Every series I've watched this year so far...

When I'm not reading, I'm usually watching a series of some sorts. So, I thought I would share some of my favourites I've watched so far this year.

I started 2023 with watching the very highly anticipated return of Emily in Paris, season 3. This has to be one of the best series I have ever seen, truly only getting better and better as the seasons progressed. It has a great cast, filled with strong and entertaining characters, all whilst being filmed on location, in the city of love. If you are in the market for an escapist series, this is the one. It's highly entertaining and juicy, with a good old fashioned love triangle and the gorgeous French accent - what's not to love?!

After season 3 of Emily in Paris, I decided to watch season 2 of Ginny and Georgia, which was released on Netflix earlier this year. I still remember how this season ended, which is how you know it was a gripping and suspenseful season. Again, this show has an array of memorable characters and it is hard to imagine any other actor playing these roles. I think the casting director of this show deserves every bit of recognition in the multiple awards this show should receive. It's raw, emotional, funny and highly unique to any other show out there. Season 2 also dealt with some major mental health discussions, which only elevated the show's success.

This next series needs no introduction because if you are on social media, you have probably seen clips of the iconic dance from episode 4. Yep, you need to watch Wednesday on Netflix. This show is so much more than just the dance though, it's so funny - specifically Wednesday's dark humour, which again is unlike any other series out right now. I also loved the friendship between Wednesday and Enid - that hug at the end of the season - I sobbed.

On the topic of sobbing, if you are looking for a dramatic and emotional show, Firefly Lane is a must watch. This has to be one of the best produced shows out there right now. I can't even imagine how long it took to film the flashbacks, but what a show. Again, just so unique and different, and the level of detail in this show is very impressive. I love witnessing the relationship between Tully and Kate grow, but the supporting characters in this show are just as memorable and important to the success of this series. I am eagerly anticipating season 2 part 2, which apparently is set to come out this month, so if you want to watch a current and recent show, this is the one for you!

Lastly, a Netflix series recommendation blog post would not be complete without a mention of You. Definitely a darker, more intense watch, but extremely thrilling, enticing and an addictive watch. Penn Badgley completely pioneers this iconic role, and as a fan of the Gossip Girl series, where Penn arguably got his fame from, I had to watch this show. It's completely unpredictable, borderline crazy - scratch that - very very crazy, but it takes you on such a thrilling ride filled with twists, tricks and several bumps along the way. Definitely a heavier watch, but there is literally no other series out there like this one. Season 4's storyline was insane and the supporting characters in this season were by far my favourite from the whole show.
