Rosemary Shrager cooks up a storm in today's case: 'The Last Supper'. After the death of a famous chef who was supposed to be catering for a weekend of hunting and reunions at Farleigh Manor, Prudence Bulstrode (equally loved and famous chef) is invited to step in. However, it is not long before Prudence suspects foul play in recent and past events in the manor, and with herself and her granddaughter Suki playing detective, this book mixes all the necessary ingredients to produce the perfect book to read for a winter's night in.
Rosemary is such a beloved and iconic figure in British television, and her cosy and comforting presence was successfully translated into the story. She cleverly intertwined past and present events at the manor, and captured all of the elements which make up a very British countryside. I love the characters in this book, particularly the descriptions of Prudence, Suki and the Constable.
To sum up this book in a sentence, I would say 'Murder She Wrote' meets 'Father Brown' - an enticing merging of two beloved classics to bring readers a cosy murder mystery perfect for this time of year. I would particularly recommend this book to readers that want to read a thriller, but nothing too intense.
