BOOK REVIEW time, and it's another thriller - A flicker in the dark, by Stacey Willingham. Headlined not just as a New York Times bestseller, but also Waterstones' thriller book of the month, I knew it was a must read.

The story follows Chloe Davis, a psychologist, also the daughter of Richard Davis, who was associated with a series of missing girl events, giving him a notorious and tarnished reputation, and Chloe a disturbing and haunting past that, understandably, affects her everyday life.
But, not everything stays in the past, and when a reporter is keen on revisiting the history of Richard Davies, and another girl goes missing, the past is forced to arise to the surface, shaking and questioning and shaking everything Chloe knows.
This book is so incredibly fast paced, I was already halfway through the book and felt like I had just read the first few chapters. Each page engaged the reader, either with the past or the present.
Spoilers alert:
I enjoyed the continued and prolonged suspense of Daniel's character (Chloe's fiancé). This coupled with not much mention of Aaron (the reporter) during the middle of the book maintained the thrilling suspense for the book.
I also love a good twist, and I certainly did not see the twist in this book coming. But it made sense, and elevated the plot so much more, adding a deeper layer of understanding into the past.
I also really like a cliffhanger, which Stacy definitely achieved in leaving the readers wondering about the future of the Davies family.
A 5 star read for me. Highly recommend for any thriller/mystery fans.
